What on Earth is a Celiac ?

"It is my wish to thank the author
for making
the Celiac story available to the public and, hopefully,
early diagnosis
will prevent the damage that can occur in its' wake.
I have now experienced many issues
with autoimmune disease such as cancer, EDS, and hepatitis C. My family will now have this information available to them. Everyone should be aware of the
dangers lurking in gluten. Through the
author's efforts,
now this information is easily accessible to everyone."

Diane Jakubowski, B. A.

The Author

Diane Jakubowski was diagnosed in 2003 with Celiac Disease after experiencing decades of nebulous autoimmune disease and digestive disease symptoms that culminated with becoming increasingly ill over a period of about two years.

She had been to numerous physicians, autoimmune disease specialists,
and Gastroenterologists
over many years.

A diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), colitis, ulcer, and gall bladder disease were suggested.

Finally, a colonoscopy/endoscopy discovered flattened villi and damaged tissue in the lining of her small intestine indicating intestinal disease. Even then, there was still confusion from the physician regarding clarification as to whether this condition was truly Celiac Disease. In addition, many of her symptoms continued to be autoimmune in nature.

After abstaining from gluten for a year and a half, and after a second endoscopy showed that there was no longer damage in the small intestine..

... it was more clearly indicated that Ms. Jakubowski did indeed have Celiac Disease.

Yet Diane continues to experience
secondary autoimmune disease..

...that may be partly or completely attributable to the fact that so many years passed without obtaining a correct diagnosis.

Diane's primary background is as an entrepreneur with a sales and marketing focus. Before becoming ill, she had provided sales coverage for Xerox Corporation in the Northern Arizona market.

In addition to her desire to help others through e-booklet services, her personal interests include home decorating, living a full life, and experiencing the great outdoors.

This web site is dedicated to all those
who have gone undiagnosed
and who seek answers
to their medical questions.

May you find your answers!
